There is one final game before the real deal.
The Houston Texans take on the New Orleans Saints at Caesars Superdome in a Sunday night matchup to put the bow on the 2023 NFL preseason.
The two teams cancelled their joint practices this week in light of the amount of injuries the Texans have suffered so far in the preseason. The Saints also had a scare last week as veteran tight end Jimmy Graham was arrested and taken to the hospital with a "medical episode." He was back practicing on Wednesday.
Both teams are potentially prepping for seasons with new starting quarterbacks. The Texans are getting rookie C.J. Stroud ready for the big stage and the Saints are hoping for a fresh start under veteran Derek Carr.
After this last tune-up, all 32 NFL teams have until Tuesday to cut down their rosters to 53 players. Then, the season kicks off Thursday when the defending Super Bowl champions Kansas City Chiefs host the Detroit Lions on Sept. 7.

Texans vs. Saints: What to know
The Texans have split their preseason games, beating the New England Patriots then losing to the Miami Dolphins. For the Saints, the preseason has been fairly smooth sailing as they outlasted the Kansas City Chiefs and then beat the Los Angeles Chargers.
C.J. Stroud, who Houston took with the No. 2 overall pick in this spring's draft, has thrown for 73 yards and an interception so far in two starts. Last year's starter, Davis Mills, has 193 yards and a touchdown across the two exhibitions. New head coach DeMeco Ryans said the former Ohio State star will get his third start in the final preseason game as the former defensive coordinator analyzes his options at quarterback.
New Orleans is pretty secure at the position with former Las Vegas Raiders signal-caller Derek Carr joining in the offseason. Former Raiders coach Jon Gruden was on the sidelines during training camp taking in his former quarterback's new team. The Saints, under second-year coach Dennis Allen, will be without running back Alvin Kamara to start the regular season as he was suspended three games for his involvement in a Las Vegas fight. Rookie Ellis Merriweather has had 41 rushing yards while new addition and fan favorite Jamaal Williams has added 28 yards.
